Bashing About London
It all begins with an idea.
This summer we took a trip to London to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was an awesome experience! We stayed right by Hyde Park, so we were basically neighbors with the Royals, ya know, no big deal. We had a tube stations on either side of our flat, which made navigating the city super easy! During our visit we carved out time for one of my favorite kinds of sightseeing—design inspiration! At Chelsea Harbour, we visited the WOW! House, and let me tell you, the name fits perfectly (sorry bad dad joke).
Each room felt like walking into a surprise party for your eyes. One moment you feel like you’re in a french chateau and the next you’re looking up at a wallpapered ceiling with stunning millwork that feels both playful and dramatic. Even the smaller details, like patterned walls and carefully chosen finishes, made the whole space feel like a masterclass in layering texture and personality.

It wasn’t about playing it safe—it was about celebrating creativity, showing how even a ceiling (yes, ceilings deserve their moment, too!) can become the star of the room.
That’s exactly the kind of energy I try to bring into my own projects—finding those unexpected details that turn a space into more than just four walls and furniture. Sometimes it’s a bold texture, sometimes it’s a playful pattern, and sometimes it’s simply mixing the “classic” with a little twist of the “unexpected.” The WOW! House was such a great reminder that design should always make you stop, smile, and feel something—that instant rush of emotion you get when you walk into a space that’s been beautifully and thoughtfully designed.
